Where do I start?
First, it is important to know that while getting married in Costa Rica is straight forward, there are some requirements which must be satisfied.
Here we will provide all the information you need to cover the legal details, however if you have any questions then we are happy to refer you to our legal representative.
Costa Rica Marriage Requirements:
- A valid passport with at least 6 months remaining is required for the bride, groom and also for the two witnesses. Copies of all the passports must be provided to the lawyer
- Both the Bride and Groom must provide proof of their current marital status (i.e. single)
- Two witnesses must be present and will be required to sign the legal documentation
We are happy to help with all the paper work, you do not need to live or have any form of residency here in Costa Rica for your marriage to be legal.

What services do your wedding planners provide?
Our wedding planners will work with you before, during and after your special day. They will provide information about venues, service providers and also make recommendations based upon your desires and needs. There is no fee for this service and all our planners are very experienced.
When should I reserve my wedding?
We recommend reserving your venue at least three months prior to your wedding date. However if you need to give shorter notice we will do all we can to accommodate this but please, call us right away!
How do I confirm my wedding?
Fill out the form on the contact us page of this website, or call us. Our planners will check availability and confirmation will be provided in writing so you can rest assured your date is set.
When should I arrive in Costa Rica for my wedding?
We recommend that you arrive a minimum of two days before your wedding ceremony.
Where on the properties can I have my wedding?
Different venues offer different areas for you to have your wedding, please inquire about your specific venue and our planner can talk you through exactly where it can be held.
What if I have guests who are not staying at my wedding venue?
Guests are of course free to choose where they stay and attend the ceremony. We are also happy to offer suggestions for accommodation close to your ceremony venue, please call us for more information.
Can you email me a floor plan of the wedding venue?
Yes, we can provide you with plans, please contact the wedding planner for the specific venue you have in mind.
What decorations can I have for my wedding?
All manner of decorations are available in Costa Rica, the limit is really just your imagination. From tiki torches to extravagant tropical flowers, call us and lets talk inspiration!
What time of day is best for my wedding?
The time of day will depend on what you are looking for. Many of our guests enjoy sunset weddings for the romance of the sunset however you are free to choose your best time.
I want my wedding on a beach, is that possible?
A bare foot, beach wedding is absolutely possible, please contact us for more details.
Will the service be in English or Spanish?
The service can be held in either English or Spanish, the choice is yours.
What is the cost of a wedding in Costa Rica?
It may seem like a stock answer, but the price really depends on you. Our weddings are not packages, each one is 100% customized to fit you. So we can accommodate budgets of all sizes. Call our weddings planners and discuss what sort of wedding you are looking for, size, requirements etc and we can give you an idea of a cost.
Do you require a down payment?
Yes, once your wedding is confirmed we require a down payment.
Who will perform my wedding ceremony?
A local notary (lawyer) will perform the wedding ceremony.
Are there dress codes for weddings in Costa Rica?
No, you are free to choose your own dress code. From Hawaiian shirts to morning suits, whatever you want!
What happens if I have an outdoor wedding planned and it rains?
We will make arrangement in case it rains, please discuss this with your wedding planner.
What time is sunset in Costa Rica?
Typically sunset is between 5:30 and 6:00pm.
Can I have live music?
Yes, we can arrange for live music for your wedding. Alternatively if you wish to bring a CD or MP3 of your own music then we can arrange to have this played as well.
Can you help me plan the menu for my reception?
Of course, we have a lot of experience working with caterers here and can accommodate any taste.
Will you take care of my wedding cake?
We work with a variety of cake makers here and can send you pictures for inspiration so when you arrive you can have the perfect wedding cake.
Do you offer photography?
We work with some excellent local wedding photographers and will be happy to provide you samples of their work and plan your wedding photos with them.
